ACAM (Asociación de Compositores y Autores Musicales de Costa Rica) is a non-profit collective management organization founded on 31 May 1990 in San José, Costa Rica. Established under Costa Rica's copyright framework by local musical authors and composers, it administers the licensing, collection and equitable distribution of performing royalties generated by the public communication of its members' works.
ACAM is a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), through which it maintains reciprocal representation agreements with collective management organizations across many countries. These agreements allow ACAM to collect royalties for Costa Rican creators when their works are exploited abroad, and to distribute royalties to foreign rights holders whose repertoire is used commercially in Costa Rica.
The organization represents several thousand Costa Rican authors and composers and maintains offices in San José, Liberia (Guanacaste) and Jacó (Puntarenas) to serve creators and license music users across the country. Commercial licensees include radio and television broadcasters, digital platforms, live performance venues, hotels and retail businesses that publicly communicate musical works.
