AEI (Asociación de Autores, Editores e Intérpretes de Guatemala) is a non-profit collective management organization (Sociedad de Gestión Colectiva) established on 7 August 2007 under the Intellectual Property Registry of the Guatemalan Ministry of Economy. It operates under the Copyright and Related Rights Law (Decree 33-98) and is the authorized entity for administering the economic rights of Guatemalan and foreign authors, editors and performers in Guatemala.
AEI administers rights on behalf of its members, negotiating licensing conditions with users — including radio stations, television channels, cable operators, discotheques, restaurants and other public-performance venues — and distributing collected remuneration to rights holders. It licenses the public communication of musical works across a broad spectrum of commercial user categories.
AEI has been a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) since 2010. Through CISAC's network of reciprocal agreements, it represents the international repertoire in Guatemala, and it took part in the landmark 2018 regional agreement that closed a long-standing pay-television copyright gap in Central America.
