The Bureau Guinéen du Droit d'Auteur (BGDA) is a public administrative and professional establishment created by Law L/043/APN/CP of 1980. It is the exclusive organization authorized to collectively manage copyright and neighboring rights in Guinea, operating under the dual supervision of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and headquartered in Conakry.
BGDA's mission is to ensure the protection and promotion of the professional, material, and moral interests of creators of artistic and literary works in Guinea and internationally. It collects royalties from music users across the country and distributes them to rights holders. In 2025 the organization launched digital tools to modernize rights management operations.
In March 2025, Guinea restored its partnership with SACEM after a long interruption, allowing BGDA to regain its place within CISAC and access the international network. As a CISAC member, BGDA benefits from reciprocal agreements whereby royalties collected for Guinean works by counterpart societies are transferred back to BGDA for distribution to Guinean creators.
