KOSCAP (Korea Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) was established in October 2014 following approval by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ending KOMCA's decades-long monopoly on music copyright management. Its selection system allows music creators to individually choose which rights — transmission, broadcasting, reproduction — KOSCAP will manage on their behalf.
KOSCAP was adopted as a provisional member of CISAC on 30 June 2021, with membership extended on 1 June 2023. The society has concluded bilateral representation agreements with STIM (Sweden), SOCAN (Canada) and CASH (Hong Kong), and SESAC has transferred its Korean representation to KOSCAP.
KOSCAP is pursuing a systems modernisation programme covering integrated rights-information management, digital-usage automated settlement, online licensing, and implementation of CISAC international standards including CWR and CRD.
