The Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) is a non-profit collective management organization established on 6 November 2009 under Macau's copyright law. It was founded by a group of local composers, following several years of engagement with CISAC to assess the territory's readiness for a dedicated CMO, and is the sole collective management organization operating in Macau.
MACA administers public-performance and broadcasting rights for musical works within Macau. It is a member of CISAC and has established reciprocal representation agreements with more than 40 overseas music societies, providing coverage of works from all continents and encompassing the large majority of the musical works in active use in the territory.
In practice, MACA licenses music users — including casinos, hotels, broadcasters and public venues — and distributes collected royalties to local member creators and to rights holders represented via affiliated international societies. It has concluded licensing agreements with major Macau gaming operators, reflecting the territory's concentration of hospitality and entertainment licensees.
