The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) was established on 17 January 1983 as a company limited by guarantee under Kenya's Companies Act. It is a non-profit collective management organisation representing authors, composers, arrangers, and publishers of musical works, headquartered in Westlands, Nairobi, with regional branches across the country.
MCSK's primary mandate is to license the public performance and mechanical reproduction of musical works, collect the resulting royalties, and distribute them to its members and to affiliated foreign collecting societies. It enters into reciprocal representation agreements with international CMOs to ensure that Kenyan rights holders are remunerated for the use of their works abroad, and vice versa.
MCSK is a member of CISAC, the global network of authors' societies, and works in coordination with other regional and international rights organisations to protect music copyright across borders.
