SACEM Luxembourg was incorporated in November 2002 and began operations on 1 January 2003. It was established jointly by SACEM (France) and SDRM as a civil society under Luxembourg law, at the initiative of local composers and musicians, with headquarters in Luxembourg City.
SACEM Luxembourg is a local affiliate of the French SACEM, extending the parent organization's collective management mandate to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It administers performing rights (public performance, broadcasting, communication to the public) and mechanical reproduction rights for musical works across Luxembourg, on behalf of both local members and the international repertoire managed through reciprocal agreements.
The organization licenses thousands of music venues in Luxembourg and counts around 1,800 composer-author subscribers, operating reciprocal agreements with roughly 120 CMOs worldwide. While it operates autonomously under Luxembourg law, it draws on SACEM's global infrastructure and documentation systems, and distributes royalties several times a year.
