SCD (Sociedad Chilena de Autores e Intérpretes Musicales), originally named Sociedad Chilena del Derecho de Autor until its 2016 rebranding, is a non-profit private corporation founded on 7 January 1987 in Chile. Created by authors, composers, artists and performers, SCD administers the copyright generated by the public performance and reproduction of musical works and phonograms on behalf of its members, numbering in the thousands.
SCD became a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) in 1988 and is also a member of the Bureau International de l'Édition Mécanique (BIEM) for mechanical-rights licensing. This dual membership enables it to administer both performing and mechanical rights and to maintain an extensive network of bilateral reciprocal agreements covering the collection of royalties from Chilean repertoire exploited internationally.
Headquartered in the Providencia district of Santiago, SCD licenses commercial users of music throughout Chile — including broadcasters, digital service providers, live venues and retail businesses — and promotes national music through cultural programmes. As a multi-rightholder CMO, SCD also administers neighbouring rights for performing artists and producers, extending its mandate beyond authors' rights.
