SGACEDOM (Sociedad General de Autores, Compositores y Editores Dominicanos de Música) is a non-profit organization of public interest established on 28 January 1996 in Santo Domingo. It was created under Executive Decree No. 166-96 and operates pursuant to Law 65-00 on Copyright of the Dominican Republic, as the entity legally authorized to grant or deny licenses for the public communication and performance of musical works in Dominican territory.
The society administers both performing and mechanical rights on behalf of national and foreign authors, composers and music publishers. It collects royalties from users of musical works — including broadcasters, venues and digital platforms — and distributes compensation to its affiliated members under tariffs approved by the national copyright office (ONDA).
SGACEDOM is a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) and participates in the confederation's General Assemblies. Through CISAC's network of reciprocal agreements, it represents the international repertoire administered by member societies worldwide within the Dominican Republic.
