SOZA (Slovenský ochranný zväz autorský) is Slovakia's performing and mechanical-rights society for musical works. Its origins trace to 1922, when a Slovak branch of the Czech OSA was established; it became an independent Slovak entity in 1939, adopted the SOZA name in 1949, and was reconstituted as an independent civic association in 1992. It celebrated its centenary in 2022.
SOZA administers performing and mechanical rights on Slovak territory, along with distribution and private-copying levies. It represents several thousand domestic authors and, through more than 100 international agreements with around 70 partner societies, provides access to the repertoire of millions of rights holders across some 123 countries.
SOZA is a full member of CISAC, BIEM and GESAC, and supports the domestic creative sector through cultural funding programmes.
