What is TikTok?

TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by Chinese company ByteDance. TikTok allows all users to make various short-form videos, from 15 minutes to 1 or 3 minutes. TikTok is an international version of Douyin, which was originally released in the Chinese market in September 2016. It only became available worldwide after merging with another Chinese social media service, Musical.ly in 2018. Recently, TikTok signed licensing deals with music Majors and pay remuneration to artists whose music is being used, broadcasted or performed on the app.
